Cloud Computing - Arunav.Net

Right since Google and IBM joined in for research on cloud computing, the concept has been well received. Although we are yet to see its application in business beyond that of Google search and indexing mechanism but I am hopeful of seeing mammoth sized datacenters being managed on cloud of 64 bit processors giving lightening fast computation. Of course this might seem like a nice dream but every invention was once a dream.
For some time now there has been debate on whether cloud computing is a real technical jargon or just a sales gimmick for fashioning the old distributed computation. I do partially agree to Larry Ellison’s (Oracle CEO) view...
"The interesting thing about cloud computing is that we've redefined cloud computing to include everything that we already do... The computer industry is the only industry that is more fashion-driven than women's fashion. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I have no idea what anyone is talking about. What is it? It's complete gibberish... When is this idiocy going to stop?"
The point that "cloud computing includes everything that we already do" is very much correct, but assuming it gibberish and hoping this idiocy to stop is an ignorant opinion.
Every new technology that we define today is an improvement on what we had earlier. Cloud Computing till this stage does not intend to change what we do, but intends to make the same thing happen more efficiently. With the continuously growing volume of digital data and correspondingly growing complexity of business application we frequently hit the processing limitation.
It works fine till it can be resolved by an alternative technical approach, but sometimes there is no option but to alter the business requirement. This is where cloud computing comes to aid, resolving such processing limitation or alternatively purchasing CPU time from IBM which will do the trick.
